The Moore Area Arts and Humanities Council is a non-profit, public organization dedicated to strengthening and expanding culture and quality of life in our community.
The name, Moore Area, was specifically chosen in order to include the greater Moore Area, including the sections of South Oklahoma City that are part of the Moore School District as well as rural areas.
Our Purpose
To support and expand the role of the Arts and Humanities in our community
To inspire members of our community to support and participate in the Arts
To educate adults and youth in and about the Arts and Humanities
Classification
The MAAHC is a publicly supported organization per IRS code 509 (a) (2) and qualifies as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
What does the MAAHC do?
Hosts concerts and other performances
Hosts arts and humanities exhibits
Supports visual and performing artists in Moore area schools and colleges
Helps in the planning of area arts events
Provides a webpage and newsletter announcing artistic and cultural events
Awards scholarships to seniors interested in pursuing an career in the Arts
Future Plans and Aspirations
To host a city-wide arts
festival in July of each year
To host bi-monthly art exhibits in local businesses
To provide "Arts in Education" activities for youth and
adults
To bring outstanding artists and performers into our
community
To provide scholarship opportunties for students and
teachers
